Get In TouchApartment hunting can be a frustrating process. One of the most difficult parts can be identifying what you need to look for in your next apartment. At Los Angeles Luxury Furnished Housing, we want to help you make it easier. Our team has put together this brief guide that helps you identify things you should consider when looking for the right LA luxury apartments.
Figure out the area where you’d like to live
You can quickly narrow your search by identifying the area in which you’d like to live. Even if you’ve decided that there are two or three neighborhoods where you’d like to settle for a time, it can take a significant chunk out of available options. You’ll also be able to start looking at how much it’s going to cost to live in the area so you can work toward establishing a realistic budget.
Take into account things like where you work, where kids might go to school, nearby grocery stores, and other features about the community when choosing an area to live. Sometimes it can be worth lengthening your commute if it’s an area that you love, but you deserve to be choosy if it’s getting too long.
Count the number of rooms you need
It’s important to know how many rooms you’re going to want in your apartment while hunting. Consider that bedrooms that aren’t occupied can either be turned into an office or a guest room. So, if you need two bedrooms but want to have a guest room that doubles as an office, make sure that you’re looking for three-bedroom apartments. Establish this count early as it will be one of the most significant factors in your budget.
Set a budget
It’s recommended that you don’t pay more than 25% to 30% of your monthly salary before taxes for rent. This should be the top factor when deciding your budget. However, you should also take into consideration what’s normal for the number of bedrooms in the areas you’d prefer to live in with specific amenities you’re looking for. Some parts of town are going to be more expensive to live in than others, which means that you’ll find your budget stretches further with certain areas than others.
Think about features and amenities
Some apartments won’t have features or amenities that you consider essential. For example, if you like to cook at home so you stock up on food, look for an apartment that has a sizable pantry and a functional kitchen. Some people might need a plethora of closet space, a large living space, or simply want a pool to cool off in during the summer. Know what you want you’re looking for in the apartment as well as the facility so you can get a place that has it. You can always adjust without, but you shouldn’t have to.
Read reviews
After you’ve found three or four apartments that look like they’re right for you, start reading online reviews that previous and current tenants have left. You can get a good idea of what it’s like to live in the complex, work with the landlord, and get maintenance to fix anything that’s broken. Life is not the same from one complex to another so you should do some research into what it’s like before you choose to move in.
